Senior Lecturer in Law
Marco Rizzi joined UniSey in 2014 as a Senior Lecturer in Law. Since his appointment he has made a significant contribution to the development and consolidation of the department. Currently he teaches Contract Law, Tort Law and Jurisprudence on the LLB programme, and Advocacy Skills on the Bar Vocational course.
Marco obtained an LLB and a Master’s degree in Laws at the University of Pisa, Italy, and a Diploma License in Legal Sciences, awarded with honours, at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa. In 2010 he obtained an LLM in European, Comparative and International Law from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, where he went on to undertake research for his PhD (awarded in 2015). This was on the subject of law and science in the global space, using the case of the interplay between transnational pharmaceutical regulation and domestic litigation to explore the adaptability of national legal tools to post-national rule-making mechanisms.
Marco’s previous posts include legal adviser, research assistant and trainer for newly appointed judges. He has also been a visiting scholar at Berkeley Law School, California, and at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, London.
Marco has authored articles and book chapters for leading journals and publishers such as the European Journal of Risk Regulation, the European Journal of Legal Studies, Oxford University Press and Brill. He is currently under contract with Cambridge University Press to write a monograph based on his PhD research.
In addition to his mother tongue, Italian, he is fully proficient in French and English (the language in which he currently teaches).
