Shella Mohideen

Shella Mohideen

Dean, The Guy Morel Institute (Faculty of Arts and Social Development)

Shella Mohideen was appointed Dean of the newly formed Guy Morel Institute in March 2014.  She was previously Head of School in the university and, before that, Training & Development Manager and Consultant for the former Seychelles Institute of Management.

Shella started her professional career as a teacher with the National Youth Service and then Seychelles Polytechnic.  Her leadership skills were soon recognized and, while still at the Polytechnic, she assumed managerial positions.  Her next move was to the School of Advanced Level Studies, where she worked for three years as Principal, prior to a short period as Head of the Pre-Medical Faculty with the previous university establishment in Seychelles.

After completing her schooling in Seychelles (with A-levels in Maths and Science subjects), Shella pursued her first degree at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, obtaining a Bachelor of Applied Science, with a major in Biological Science.  She followed this at the same university with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and, later (also at Edith Cowan), she obtained a Master of Education with a specialism in School Leadership.

As well as her teaching (for which she has received awards for excellence), Shella has undertaken a variety of consultancy projects for both public and private sector organisations.  She has also led projects within UniSey, including the production of the present Strategic Plan and the development of a performance management system.  Currently, in addition to her Deanship duties, Shella has a cross-university responsibility for the Human Resource service and leadership of the Seychelles Young Leaders Programme.

In her leisure time, she enjoys reading and watching football with her son.
