University of Seychelles Programme
The Diploma in Labour Studies aims primarily to develop and implement programmes that promote a culture of safety in the workplace. Candiates will be able to develop and implement strategies for effective management and development of the Human Resource. They will become familiar with the Labour Laws of Seychelles as well as the
International Standards as set by the International Labour Organisation, and be able to apply these Laws & Standards effectively. Candidates will gain understanding on how the Labour Markets operate and apply the theories of Labour Economics in their line of work. They will be able to use a strategic approach, to develop and implement actions aimed at redressing productivity issues in the organisations and apply research skills to collect and analyse data for effective decision making.
Candidates with at least two subjects with grades ranging from A to D at Cambridge Level or equivalent
- Candidates with any NQF level 4 accredited certificate with 2 years continuous work experience in a relevant
field of work at supervisory level, or
- Mature candidates with any NQF level 3 accredited certificate with 6 years continuous work experience in
a supervisory / team leader position, in a relevant field of work, or
- Mature candidates with three IGCSEs, (inclusive of Mathematics & English) at minimum grade C, with 6
years continuous work experience in a supervisory / team leader position in a relevant field of work.
The programme is designed for labour officials, human resource development professionals, employers and employees in theprivate and public sectors and industrial relations practitioners.
Length:One and a half year
Format: 10 modules and a dissertation of 12,000 words
