The International Trade Center (ITC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Blue Economy of Seychelles, launched a business survey on Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) on Tuesday 26th April. The aim of the survey was to identify existing obstacles to trade impacting the competitiveness of Seychellois companies on the international market. The consulting services of UniSey, through The Guy Morel Institute, were contracted to lead the project on behalf of the ITC.

QA Workshop

The QA Department organised a workshop on “Working towards becoming a self-regulating University” from Monday 25th to Friday 29th April. The one-week workshop was facilitated by Professor Jethro Newton. UK Project Neptune

The Department of Blue Economy and BERI organised the UK Project Neptune workshop on Monday 25th April at The Guy Morel Institute. The objectives of the workshop were to identify areas of research collaboration based on Seychelles blue economy research priorities towards the development of a one-year joint pilot project proposal to be submitted for funding to the UK Government.

MoU with SAMS

The University of Seychelles (UniSey) and the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday 6th April, 10 am at the British High Commission in Victoria. The purpose of this MoU is for UniSey and SAMS to collaborate in research and education in marine science, including sustainable coastal ecosystem-based management and resource use and related disciplines. Study Law at UniSey

An enthusiastic group of A-Level students participated in an open day at UniSey on Wednesday 30th March at the Anse Royale campus. The law lecturer, Adam McCann, highlighted the benefits of studying law at UniSey, and a current law student, Shantana Barbe, complimented this with a discussion about the experiences students will encounter once they begin their studies. Management and leadership skills are equally important in guiding the development and success of any organisation. A 3-day workshop that started on Wednesday 30th March was organised by The Guy Morel Institute to teach HR managers and officers how to manage and lead effectively.
The Secretary General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie, Mrs Michaëlle Jean, visited the Anse Royale campus on Monday 28th April during her official visit to the Indian Ocean region. The Australian High Commissioner H.E Ms Susan Coles launched the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Blue Economy Aquaculture Challenge at the University of Seychelles (UniSey).
