Mission Statement
Before you apply to any institution you need to establish what it stands for, as well as whether the courses and the culture of the university suit your requirements as a prospective undergraduate student. Ideally it is a good idea to visit any university that you are considering applying to, but in reality this is not always feasible. Increasingly we rely on internet-based material to inform our decisions, after all, this is exactly what you are doing now as you read this. UniSey has clear goals and objectives which are realistic, and which will shape the development of the University. A summary of these goals, presented as a Mission Statement, follows. In brief, the University of Seychelles intends to:
Advance knowledge and foster excellence in teaching and learning in an atmosphere of discovery, creativity, and innovation that will encourage students to achieve their full potential, so that they can make a valuable contribution to the social, cultural and economic life of Seychelles and beyond.
Provide, in partnership with international Institutions, innovative academic programmes
- at undergraduate and post-graduate levels,
- for professional development and life-long learning, and
- in applied research.
Specifically and practically this means that the University will do the following;
- Meet the needs of Seychelles resident and international students by providing globally recognised qualifications at a competitive cost ;
- Provide the highest quality of learning, teaching and professional development in a challenging and innovation-driven educational environment, whilst stimulating a unique university experience;
- Develop an international student cohort and offer regional and international leadership within our core areas of competence;
- Engage industry and business through joint partnerships and consultations to improve the University’s academic programme, which will take account of emerging trends and changing needs in industry;
