The Postgraduate Certificate in Legal Practice programme is offered every second year as a preparatory course for law graduates wishing to write the highly selective Seychelles Bar Exam. The purpose is to prepare candidates for the writing of the exam, covering all subjects prescribed by the Legal Practitioners Act. The course is not required, but highly recommended for applicants wishing to sit the examination.
The programme is of a two-fold nature:
1. The course will offer specialist training in a series of specific areas of the laws of Seychelles. These areas are identified by the Examining Board, chaired by the Chief Justice. In particular, the course will consist of eight substantive modules:
Module 1: Civil Code of Seychelles
Module 2: Seychelles Code of Civil Procedure
Module 3: Property Law, including:
Module 4: Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code
Module 5: General Principles of Law of Evidence
Module 6: Commercial Code Company Law (including Commercial Code and Companies Act)
Module 7: Family law, including:
Module 8: Constitutional and Administrative Law
2. Alongside its substantive core, the course provides an in-depth training in vocational aspects of the profession, which are essential to ensure the effectiveness, quality and ethical soundness of legal practice. This vocational module is broken down into five sub-units:

This programme is for you if you:
are aspiring to become a barrister and work in Seychelles and
have a passion to defend others and fight for justice.
One of the following options:
LLB from any recognised university within the Commonwealth countries; or
other law degrees (such as a French ‘Maitrise en droit’ or an LLB from the Republic of Ireland) can be considered.
The final decision on eligibility rests with the Office of the Chief Justice.
Interested individuals may be allowed to attend (audit) the course without sitting the Bar Examination. Enrolment is at the discretion of UniSey. UniSey may require that such auditors meet minimum educational requirements or possess relevant professional experience.
