Report to: Financial Controller
Academic qualification: Preferably an undergraduate Degree in Financial / Accounting Management plus at least 5 years of work experience in relevant fields.
Professional experience: Extensive knowledge on financial control and auditing

Able to work as part of a team and ensuring that an effective service is provided as all times;

Strong communication skills (both written and oral);

Competent in a range of IT applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and quickbooks;

Effective administrative skills, including the ability to organise and prioritise own workload in order to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy;

Professional and diplomatic approach to work at all times

Main duties and responsibilities

Main Purpose of the Job: Responsible for all aspects of financial management, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures. Co –coordinating and monitoring the day to day activities of the Accounts functions, ensuring that adequate internal control is maintained over these – Receivables, Payables, Debts Management, Payroll, Procurement.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee operations of the finance section, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.
  2. Producing monthly financial reports to be submitted to the Financial Controller for management purposes.
  3. Producing financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses, debtors etc.
  4. Assist the auditors ensuring appropriate external audit arrangements are in place and manage the audit processes.
  5. Ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations are produced on an accurate and timely basis to include bank reconciliations, debtors, and creditors.
  6. Develop annual budgets in collaboration with the Financial Controller and budget holders.
  7. Provide advice and assistance to the budget holders on all budgetary matters.
  8. Help the Financial Controller in making sound financial decisions by looking for cost-reduction opportunities.
  9. Liaising with the Training and Development Manager for training and professional development of all staff under her/his direct control.
  10. Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the university’s actual performance compared to the budget projections.
