On Wednesday 9th February 2022, the French Ambassador; Mr. Dominque Mas, visited the University of Seychelles to get a first-hand experience about the seaweed aquaculture and seagrass-coral interaction research project. The project has been funded by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry through the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects (FSPI).
Ambassador Mas had the pleasure of interacting with both staff and students. He was accompanied by Deputy to the Head of mission, Mr. Lilian Cassiede-Yturbide, IRD representative, Mr. Francis Marsac. He was welcomed by the Dean of Faculty, Dr Justin Zelime, Director of BERI, Ms Sylvanna Antat, Head of Department Environmental Science, Dr Nuette Gordon, Senior Lecturer Dr Jerome Harlay, Senior Manager ILES, Mrs Prema Servina and Senior Officer ILES, Mrs Vicky Rachel.
Professor Mats Deutschmann paid a courtesy visit on Friday 21st January 2022 at UniSey, whereby he presented his research project on how to better deliver teaching of English in primary schools. He also shared his research and ideas gathered from the African countries (Tanzania) and how it can be implemented here in Seychelles. Professor Deutschmann is a professor of English at Örebro University, Sweden, where he currently works at the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (HumES). His research is based in Sociolinguistics, Teacher Education, Curriculum Theory and Educational Technology.
