|Main duties and responsibilities|
|1. Teaching, Learning and Assessment|
1.1. Delivery / contact hours
1.1.1. Maximum 15hrs and Minimum 09hrs
1.1.2. Record students’ attendance (students must sign for each session)
1.1.3. Submit Attendance Sheet to HoD every month (proof of delivery hours)
1.1.4. Regular reports on students’ attendance must be submitted to HoD
1.2. Teaching levels
1.2.1. Workshops, Short courses, Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree.
1.2.2. Can also teach Masters as long as under supervision of a Senior lecturer or higher.
1.3.1. Provide students with a relevant and stimulating range of learning opportunities and experiences within the subject area, consistent with the programme overall objectives.
1.3.2. Keep abreast of international developments within the academic discipline and/or professional practice of the subject area and share this knowledge to shape curricular content, design and delivery.
1.3.3. Implement new innovative methods in preparation.
1.3.4. Use multimedia to offer a more diversified teaching.
1.3.5. Include a mixture of theory and practical in sessions.
1.3.6. Develop and produce appropriate learning materials.
1.3.7. Submit course / module outline as well as a brief Scheme of Work to HoD latest 2 weeks after first session.
1.4.1. Set (as per UniSey standard) and mark (according to agreed marking scheme with HoD) exams for modules and items taught.
1.4.2. Submit 1 copy of exam paper and marking scheme to HoD.
1.4.3. Mark student dissertation.
1.4.4. Provide feedback to students within reasonable time frame.
1.4.5. Submit results with comments on deadline given by HOD.
1.4.6. Moderate exams within area(s) of expertise
1.4.7. Invigilate as per Department / Faculty / UniSey requirements.
1.4.8. Assessment Board Duties
1.4.9. Enter required information/data on IFNOSS.
1.5.1. At least 1 tutorial session per student per academic year.
1.5.2. UniSey Tutorial Sheet must be completed and signed by students after each tutorial session.
1.5.3. Specific time must be allocated for tutorials on weekly timetable.
1.5.4. Regular reports on students’ progress must be submitted to HoD
1.6.1. Supervision of student projects and complete UniSey Project Supervision Sheet as per Department / Faculty / UniSey requirements.
1.6.2. Supervision of students on internship/WBE and complete UniSey Internship Supervision Sheet as per Department / Faculty / UniSey requirements.
|2. Curriculum development|
2.1. Be responsible for the design of own courses and assessment methods.
2.2. Participate in the development and validation of new programmes/courses
2.3. Collaborate with colleagues on the implementation of assessment procedures and review student progress and retention.
2.4. Tackle issues affecting the quality of delivery within scope of own level of responsibility, referring more serious matters to others, as appropriate.
|3. Research and innovation|
3.1. Team member or leader on at least 1 research project per academic year.
3.2. Participate in and / or lead research in response to the country’s national development.
3.3. Apply / bid for research funding.
3.4. Participate in and develop research networks that could benefit UniSey.
3.5. Participate in a group or write alone at least 1 published paper in a 2 years time frame.
|4. Quality assurance and enhancement|
4.1. Be committed to and play a significant part in the total quality management of the subject area.
4.2. Participate in assessment and evaluation of curriculum design and the quality of teaching and learning provided by subject staff.
4.3. Make contributions of appropriate quality to programmes being prepared for review and/or validation.
4.4. Support the University Quality Management processes.
|5. Mentoring and pastoral care|
5.1. Participate in peer review activities.
5.2. Advise, mentor and support both students and the less experienced colleagues.
5.3. Act as a Personal Tutor to students.
5.4. Support students on academic, career and personal development matters.
|6. General duties and responsibilities as Department and Faculty staff|
6.1. Contribute to the recruitment and selection of students including attendance at open days and other recruitment and marketing events.
6.2. Attend meetings and conferences as required.
6.3. Secure student placements and facilitate outreach work.
6.4. Market the Department / Faculty.
6.5. Participate in and develop external networks.
6.6. Identify sources of funding; generate income; develop ideas for generating income.
6.7. Obtain consultancy projects
6.8. Conduct Training Needs Analysis for Customised products
6.9. Develop and implement new workshops.
6.10. Participate in social activities, or build relationships for future activities.
6.11. Work within and actively support the Strategic Plan of the Department and Faculty.
6.12. Participate in the preparation of departmental budgets and associated reports.
6.13. Collaborate with regard to the formulation of course timetable.
6.14. Promote excellent working atmosphere within the Department and Faculty
