Report to: Director – PR & Communication and Marketing
Academic qualification: Training up to Degree level in either Marketing, Business or related field
Professional experience:

Minimum of five years of experience essential;

Experience in the development of communication materials and marketing management within business organisations.

Knowledge of:

  • principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services;
  • marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration and sales techniques;
  • principles and processes for providing customer and personal services;
Additional criteria:

Modern office practices and procedures;

Supervisory methods and techniques;

Establishes good communication with target audiences;

Conduct research to find out the concerns and expectations of the university’s stakeholders;

Must be computer literate and have excellent oral, interpersonal, customer service and written communication skills;

Have excellent organisational and planning skills and is very attentive to detail;

Able to work independently with a minimum of supervision;

Must have a professional appearance and attitude;

Able to work in a fast paced environment and maintain a friendly demeanour;

Ability to multi-task;

Work as part of a team;

Work with people at all levels of the university;

Be pro-active and innovative

Main duties and responsibilities

The Marketing Executive is responsible for performing duties relating to public relations, media, communications and marketing aspects of the university.  The Marketing Executive must assist in the development of marketing and advertising campaigns to promote the programmes, services and facilities that the university has to offer.  

1. Administrative

  • Assisting with the development of marketing campaigns that promote products, services or ideas for the university
  • Liaising and networking with a range of stakeholders, e.g. customers, colleagues, suppliers, designers, sponsors, and partner organisations
  • Maintaining and updating stakeholder databases
  • Assisting with organising events such as conferences, seminars, receptions and exhibitions
  • Conducting market research such as customer questionnaires and focus groups
  • Assisting with the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
  • Arranging for the effective distribution of marketing materials
  • Assisting with the development of marketing campaigns
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Director PR & Communication and Marketing

Other duties

  • Serve as a member of the Graduation Committee
  • Serve as other Committee members as applicable

Professional Development

  • Be responsible for continuing self-initiated professional development
  • Participate in University staff development initiatives
  • Attend training programmes as identified and agreed for appropriate development
  • Engage in professional development activities as required
