Ralf Caers is Senior Lecturer at University of Seychelles. He teaches the courses ‘Human Resource Management’, ‘International Human Resource Management, and ‘Multinational Enterprise’. His research currently focuses on mental hygiene and the prevention and reduction of stress and burnout, creating sustainable work environments in which both the employees and employers can flourish. He has a PhD in Applied Economic Sciences and is an academic and professional expert in the domain of Human Resource Management (HRM). Before joining UniSey, Dr Caers was an assistant professor in HRM at the Catholic University of Leuven, where he was repeatedly awarded for his excellent teaching. He has published over 20 articles on HR topics in various scientific journals, including the ‘Journal of Vocational Behavior’ and ‘New Media and Society’. Dr Caers also wrote two popular handbooks on HRM (‘HRM in Essentie’ and ‘HRM Basics’) which are currently used in institutions of higher education to teach modern HRM to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Besides his work for the Catholic University of Leuven, he also taught HR courses at the University of Saint Louis (Brussels) and courses for business professionals at the EHSAL Management School. Dr Caers was appointed Chairman of the exam jury for the EHSAL Management School’s HR programmes, for which he also served on the governing boards. He is the author of his own column in a respected Belgian magazine for HR professionals (HRSquare), in which he comments on local news facts from an HR point of view. He is also the author of the online HR course for Dutch-speaking HR staff and supervisors which is being used by over 2.000 professionals.
