Information Technology and Computer Labs

Mission

To continually develop our service to meet and exceed client expectations and contribute to the success of UniSey through the provision of timely, quality and professional information and communication technology.

We achieve this through:

  • Delivering a proactive, knowledgeable and reliable service at first point of contact, offering advice and support for IT services;
  • Offering a variety of contact methods to suit our student and staff needs, including via email, in person (on both campuses), email and remote access (to some extent);
  • Supporting and developing our staff to ensure we deliver an excellent quality service; and
  • Continually developing and improving our services and processes.
 
What do we do?
  • Infrastructure: the campus network, information on WIFI, infrastructure cabling for the network.
  • Creating and managing domain user accounts.
  • Computers – we provide help with staff work PC or laptop, from buying a computer to setting it up, maintaining it ensuring disposal. The administration of the workstations and laptops is focused under one extensive service, which ensures up-to-date equipment, software and information security.
  • Software: The management of the key licences is centralised in the IT Services.
  • Server provisioning – the efficient use of server hardware through virtualisation.
  • Manage email services for students and staff. Also ensuring that active directory and permissions are up to date.
  • Web publishing: As technical editor of the UniSey website and Intranet, we work with content editors to ensure that management of these is smooth.
  • Printing: network-based printing across the University
  • Audio-visual: we manage all aspects of AV at UniSey.
  • Production of photo ID Cards for students and staff.
  • Telephones and mobile: information about handsets, voicemail, mobile phones for staff. Liaison with service providers (for staff).
  • File storage: storage for files and folders accessible from your desktop (for staff).
  • Governance, project management and Business and Service Analysis – to ensure that IT Services meets the needs of the University.

 

Microsoft IT Academy Centre

UniSey is a Microsoft IT Academy Centre.

The Microsoft IT Academy programme enables academic institutions to deliver training on Microsoft IT professional, developer, and Office technologies to students.  It also enables academic institutions to offer resources on the latest Microsoft technologies to their educators.
