4th Commonwealth Youth Work Conference

From the 10th – 13th July, Mrs. Betty-Mai Sofa, Head of the Health and Social Care Department represented the University of Seychelles at the 4th Commonwealth Youth Work Conference, held at the Reading University, in the UK, under the theme “The Power of Youth Work: Forging a Sustainable and Peaceful Common Future”. The Conference was one of the main events commemorating the Year of Youth (2023) mandate and a collaboration between the Commonwealth Secretariat, in partnership with the UK National Youth Agency (NYA) and the Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers’ Associations (CAYWA).
 
The sub-themes of the conference were as follows:
 
1. Celebration and promotion of Youth Work
2. Collaboration, locally, nationally, and internationally both within the sector and across allied sectors
3. Collectivism / solidarity – across geographies
4. Youth Work’s role in the encouragement and development of peace
5. Development of appropriate training support and opportunities for learning
