Dr. Michael Hall
Dean of the Faculty of Business and Sustainable Development
Dr. Michael Hall re-joined the University as the Dean of The Faculty of Business and Sustainable Development in April 2023.
Prior to joining the University, Dr. Hall started his career in the Leisure and Recreation industry, employed as a Sports Centre Manager. In 1997 he trained as a teacher, changing careers. Since 1997 he has work for various colleges and universities in the United Kingdom and Malaysia. Throughout his career he has specialized in a range of subjects including: Business Management, Leadership, Teacher Education, Education Studies, and Sociology.
In 2015, Dr. Hall first joined the University of Seychelles as a Senior lecturer in Business Studies, managing the post graduate business programmes (MBA) and teaching on the MA Sustainable Tourism programme. In 2019 he moved to Malaysia, working as the Director of Teaching and Learning for the School of Education, University of Nottingham Malaysia.
Throughout his career he has supervised over 100, undergraduate, masters and PhD students with their research dissertations. His research interests include: management development, strategic management, teacher leadership, the teaching of language across the curriculum, teacher identity and deontological approaches to educational research.
He has extensive experience of working with external organisations on short training programmes, including: Certificate in Adult Teaching on behalf of the Royal Air Force, Train the Trainer for the East of England Co-operative society and Certificate in Education for engineering instructors at local engineering training company.
Dr. Hall holds an HND and professional qualifications in Sport and Leisure Management, Post Graduate Certificate in Education, Qualified Teacher Status (QTLS), Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies, Master of Arts in Management, and a PhD in Education with Anglia Ruskin University. He is a fellow member of the Higher Education Academy, Institute for Learning and the British Educational Research Association (BERA).
Michael is married and has one teenage daughter.
