Island Studies
Led by Dr. Kris Valaydon, the university in 2014 launched a new, twice-yearly publication, Island Studies. The journal is dedicated to promoting the understanding of complex processes and vulnerabilities that affect the development of islands of the Indian Ocean sub-region. It is also an important tool to communicate emerging issues as faced not only by islands in the Indian Ocean but also more widely across the world.
Island Studies charts a distinctive path between academia and the domain of practitioners. To ensure the high standard that is expected of a university, all of the articles are reviewed by specialists. At the same time the material is intended to be accessible to a wide readership, thus encouraging an ongoing debate between academics and policy-makers.
