On Monday 2nd October 2023, the High Commission of India to Seychelles celebrated Mahatma Gandhi’s 154^th birthday at Peace Park. The event was attended by high-ranking government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and the Indian diaspora in Seychelles.

His Excellency, the High Commissioner of India to Seychelles, Shri Kartik Pande, spoke about how Gandhi’s ideas continue to inspire people today. A special guest speaker for the occasion, Ms. Diana Benoit from the James R. Mancham Peace and Diplomacy Research Institute, discussed how non-violence can bring about social and political change and why it holds significance in the contemporary world.

The event also featured vocal and dance performances of ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ and ‘Vaishnav Jan to’.
