Gilberte Gendron holds a Master of Science degree in Oceanography from the Université du Québec à Rimouski, Canada, where her research focused on the impact of anthropogenic noise on the feeding behaviour of fish larvae. She also holds a BSc degree in Earth and Environmental Science from the Université d’Aix-Marseille, France.

She has over 14 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, having worked with the Seychelles government, including with the Seychelles National Parks Authority (now the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority), at both technical and decision-making levels, in collaboration with local NGOs and community partners.

Gilberte currently works as an independent consultant with Bee Ecological Consultancy. Her professional focus includes coral reefs and associated habitats, as well as protected area management and policy development.

From 2018 to 2020, she served as a part-time Associate Lecturer at the University of Seychelles, delivering the course Introduction to Marine Ecology to first-year Environmental Science BSc students.

She has participated in numerous specialised training programmes and oceanographic missions—covering fisheries, marine geology, and marine mammals—across the Seychelles Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the western Indian Ocean. Gilberte also has strong experience in field monitoring methodologies, including seabird, turtle, and tortoise surveys, beach profiling, and coral and fish monitoring.

She has contributed to several scientific papers published in renowned journals, including one as a co-author in Nature Communications.
