Pep Nogués is a field and outdoor biologist with extensive experience in both terrestrial and marine ecosystems. He grew up in Catalonia, exploring the Mediterranean Sea, its coasts, and mountains, and holds a Master’s degree in Forestry Engineering and Natural Resources Management from universities in Catalonia and Denmark.

He gained early experience managing protected and endangered fauna and flora in natural parks in both countries. Between 2015 and 2019, he worked as a Conservation Officer for the Island Conservation Society, based across several Outer Islands of Seychelles.

Pep’s primary research interests include marine and terrestrial protected areas, and the migration of post-reproductive megafauna such as turtles and seabirds. He has also conducted research on the impacts of recreational catch-and-release angling on fisheries in the Alphonse group, developing strategies to minimise ecological impacts.

He has contributed as author or co-author to numerous major publications, including peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on marine turtles, seabirds, sharks, manta rays, and the impacts of fish aggregating devices (FADs) in Seychelles waters. He has also contributed to monitoring protocols and reports covering vegetation and natural habitats, invasive species, landbirds and seabirds, amphibians and reptiles, marine turtles and giant tortoises, coral reefs, and other marine life.

In addition to his work in Seychelles, Pep has experience in protected area management and ecotourism in Southern Africa and currently works as a biologist and forest engineer for the Catalan government.
