Four visiting Researchers

We are pleased to welcome a team of four visiting researchers, Luca Zaggia, Luigi Tosi and Sandra Donnici from the Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR-IGG), and John Rapaglia from the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel, Germany. Their mission will focus on investigating groundwater salinization in Seychelles and supporting MACCE in developing a research proposal to better understand its causes and impacts. The team will be with us until 26th November 2026.

The experts participated in a workshop hosted by BERI on Thursday 20th November, titled “Beneath the Postcard: Sea-level Rise and Hidden Groundwater Impacts in Coastal Systems.” They will also be engaging with key stakeholders—including MACCE officials, Blue Economy delegates, farmers, and NGOs—and carrying out field visits across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue.

We look forward to a productive collaboration and hope they enjoy their time discovering the beauty of Seychelles.
