Focus Group Discussion on Single-Use Plastics & Sustainable Alternatives

The Blue Economy Research Institute at the University of Seychelles, in partnership with Sustainability for Seychelles (S4S), successfully hosted a Focus Group Discussion under the Resilience to Climate Vulnerability and Environmental Risk (RECOVER) project.

The session brought together community members from Anse Boileau, Anse Royale, Au Cap, Pointe Larue, Perseverance, and Bel Ombre to explore the impacts of single-use plastics on health, livelihoods, coastal flooding, and the environment, while discussing practical and sustainable alternatives.

University of Seychelles students played an active role in facilitating interactive discussions, applying skills gained through prior training, while also supporting valuable data collection for ongoing research.

This meaningful engagement strengthens community-driven research, builds student capacity, and contributes to the development of sustainable solutions tailored to the Seychelles context. ♻️🌱
