Empowering Teachers to Foster Peace: UniSey Conducts National Conflict Resolution Workshop
The University of Seychelles, through its Peace and Diplomacy Research Institute, held a Teacher Training Workshop from 10–13 March 2026 under the project Promoting Peaceful Coexistence and Conflict Resolution Strategies in Primary and Secondary Schools in Seychelles, with support from the Seychelles National Commission for UNESCO.
The workshop brought together over 30 teachers and head teachers from Anse Royale Primary School, Anse Royale Secondary School, Mont Fleuri Primary School, and Mont Fleuri Secondary School to strengthen their capacity to address conflicts in school environments using practical, age-appropriate conflict resolution strategies.
Guided by UNESCO’s Global Citizenship Education (GCED) framework, the initiative also includes the development of a Conflict Resolution Handbook and the establishment of Peace Clubs in participating schools, with plans to expand the programme to more schools across Seychelles.
