On Monday, the Creole Language and Culture Research Institute (CLCRI) commemorated Fet’Afrik and Africa Day under the theme “The Abolition of Slavery”, a historic observance marked for the first time in Seychelles in February 2026.

The event included the launch of a collaborative project with an international digital museum led by Oliver Jourreau, alongside the annual Achilles Kwame Luc Memorial Lecture. Presentations by Tony Joubert and Dr Penda Choppy explored African influences and religious syncretism in Seychelles’ cultural heritage.
