Welcome to the University of Seychelles

Introducing UniSey

Overview

The University of Seychelles (UniSey) welcomed its first cohort of students in September 2009, followed by its official inauguration in November 2010.  It was registered and licensed by the Government of Seychelles as a national university with a mandate to offer high-quality, innovative and market-oriented professional, undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes.

During its 16 years of existence, UniSey has undergone structural changes and expanded its range of academic programmes.  However, the university has consistently maintained its ambition to grow, enhance its global presence, and play a key role in transforming Seychelles into a knowledge-based society.

UniSey is a young academic and research institution that offers students high‑quality programmes, a vibrant university life, and an opportunity for international students to gain first‑hand experience of life on a tropical island in the heart of the Indian Ocean.

The university operates two campuses on Mahé Island, where students are taught by highly experienced academics, many of whom have worked at universities around the world.

UniSey has established five research institutes that work closely with its faculties to promote research activities and forge links with organisations sharing similar interests. Through research, the university aims to provide the Government with data to support informed decision‑making for the benefit of the country.
