The Facilities Section is responsible for the efficient management and maintenance of UniSey’s infrastructure, ensuring the functionality, safety, and accessibility of its campuses. This includes classrooms, laboratories, offices, recreational areas, and common spaces. The section ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, and supports infrastructural planning and logistics for university operations and events. It also plays a pivotal role in sustainability efforts and the implementation of campus improvements in alignment with UniSey’s growth plans. This is also aligned with the goal of transforming the University’s theatres and facilities into a revenue centre while fostering a supportive, efficient campus environment 

Building Maintenance and Operations

  • Maintenance of Campus Buildings: Oversee the maintenance and repair of all university buildings, including academic buildings, offices, libraries, and other facilities.
  • Facilities Management: Ensure that the physical resources of the university, such as HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and other mechanical equipment, are functioning efficiently.
  • Renovations and Upgrades: Plan and supervise renovation projects and upgrades to university facilities.

 

Grounds Management

  • Landscaping and Horticulture: Maintain and enhance the campus landscape, including gardens, lawns, and recreational areas.
  • Waste Management: Manage waste collection, recycling initiatives, and disposal services to ensure the campus remains clean and environmentally responsible.

 

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety checks and audits to ensure that all facilities comply with safety regulations, including fire safety, emergency exits, and occupational health standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the university’s physical infrastructure and provide contingency plans in case of emergencies.

 

Space Management and Allocation

  • Space Utilization: Monitor and manage the allocation of space on campus, ensuring efficient use of classrooms, lecture halls, labs, and administrative spaces.
  • Scheduling of Campus Facilities: Coordinate the scheduling of campus facilities for academic and extracurricular activities.

 

Sustainability Initiatives

  • Energy Efficiency: Implement initiatives to reduce energy consumption across campus facilities, such as the use of solar energy, LED lighting, and other green technologies.
  • Sustainable Practices: Promote sustainable practices within the campus community, including water conservation, reducing carbon footprint, and eco-friendly building designs.

 

Campus Security

  • Security Services: Ensure the campus is safe for students, staff, and visitors by coordinating security services, installing surveillance cameras, and implementing access control measures.
  • Emergency Response: Establish protocols for responding to emergencies, including fires, natural disasters, or security threats.

 

Campus Development and Planning

  • Strategic Planning: Assist in the long-term planning and development of the university’s infrastructure, ensuring that facilities grow in line with the institution’s strategic goals.
