The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics and Finance (BEF) at the University of Seychelles provides students with a solid foundation in economic theory, financial management, and quantitative analysis. The programme equips students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to understand and address economic and financial issues at local, regional, and global levels.

  • Full-time: Minimum 3 years
  • Part-time: Up to 8 years (flexible study plan)

 

📌 Internships required at the end of semesters 2, 4, and 6 for practical industry experience.

The language of instruction for the programme is English.

  • The programme is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the student’s preference.
  • Full-time students typically study between 4 and 6 courses per academic year, while part-time students can opt for between 2 and 4 courses per year.

The BEF programme is structured into three levels, covering core courses, advanced modules, and specialist training.

The BEF programme is delivered through a blend of traditional and interactive learning methods to enhance critical thinking and real-world application.

📌 Independent Study: Students are expected to conduct additional reading, research, and coursework outside of class hours.

📌 On-demand Tutorials Available: Students can request individual or group academic support sessions for further assistance.

The BEF programme is open to applicants who meet either the Academic Pathway or the Technical Pathway entry requirements.

Academic Pathway:

    • 2 A levels and 3 ‘O’ level/IGCSE qualifications (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics at a minimum grade C.

Diploma Holders:

    • A Diploma in a relevant field such as Business Studies, Management, Accounting, Finance or Economics etc.

Technical Pathway:

    • A National Qualification Framework (NQF) Level 4 accredited Certificate, combined with at least 2 years of continuous working experience in a relevant field.

OR

    • A minimum of 5 years’ continuous working experience in a relevant management position.

Applicants should meet at least one of the criteria above to be considered for admission to the programme. The course is designed for individuals with varying educational backgrounds and professional experience in business-related fields.

Applications will be considered from applicants who do not meet the normal minimum age requirement for admission. Each application will be considered on an individual basis, and the decision will be at the discretion of the University.

BSc (Honours) in Economics and Finance

The programme offers students the opportunity to study both economics and finance. In so doing, it equips them with the knowledge and understanding of methods and concepts in both economics and finance and enables them apply both financial and economic reasoning. The programme ideally prepares students for graduate study in the subjects and for a future career in finance and economics.
