Vision 

To develop ‘practitioner-scholars’ who will conduct and publish the results of rigorous applied management research that advance an area of knowledge and practice. 

Mission

To develop executives to more effectively under-stand new trends in business & management research so that they can assume senior management and leadership responsibilities.  

Philosophy of the programme 

In keeping with the core values of UniSey, the underlying philosophy of the programme is to promote creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit for growth and development. 

Aim(s)   

 To educate business executives in the concepts and techniques needed to understand a range of business disciplines and to conduct research on issues arising in professional business practice. 

Objectives of the programme 

The program objectives are as follows:  

  • Graduates will have knowledge of advanced theoretically grounded and methodologically sound research skills that provide the foundation for impactful, practice-focused research. 
  • Graduates will be able to disseminate evidence-based management practice through identifying and communicating to audiences within an academic and a practice-based settling. 
  • Graduates will have a mastery of quantitative and qualitative research methods specifically oriented to applied research. 

Consistent with international practice, the doctoral program is/may be completed in a minimum of 3 years. An extension of not more than 1 year may be granted on application. 

The programme is offered in English.

The programme is offered full-time and part time.

Each module is given in a seminar form. The study plan for each module involves substantial reading of selected materials which places emphasis on the students’ specialization needs and educational activities in relation to longer-range personal and career goals. At the end of each of Module students will be required to hand in a research paper, undertake exam (or other similar assignments required by the instructor) in order to assess their participation and to evaluate their academic progress. Teaching methods may include: 

    • Selected readings and written assignments, Lecture Discussions, Group Deliberations  
    • Data Analysis Exercises, Guest Academic Research seminars  
    • Research paper assignments, Participants’ presentations and discussions 
    • Critique and review of research papers

 

24 Contact hours (lectures) delivered over 4 days (modular) plus 12 contact hours (tutorials) delivered over the same period. One modular session runs for 4 days (e.g., Thursday to Sunday) for 9 hours daily (6 hours of lectures and 3 hours of tutorials).

Academic Pathway: 

  • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, EMBA, MPhil , MA, MSc ) in business, management or related area or equivalent qualification with at least 5 years leadership experience in a business, public  and other organizations; or 
  • Professional Qualification (e.g., ACCA, AIB, ICA, ICMA, etc.) with at least 10 years leadership experience in a business, public and other organizations; or 
  • Bachelor’s degree – second class lower- with at least 10 years leadership experience responsibility in business, public and other organization;
