Dr. Elvina Henriette is a Seychellois Docteur of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris, where she specialised in ecology at the Institut d’Écologie et de Gestion de la Biodiversité (Conservation des Espèces, Restauration et Suivi des Populations; UMR 7204). She holds a Master’s degree from the Université de La Réunion and a BSc degree from the University of East Anglia.

Her areas of expertise include birds and other terrestrial vertebrates, invasive species, freshwater fishes, botany, mangroves, and wetlands. She has worked with the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre and for many years in Seychelles as a conservation biologist with the Ministry of Environment and Dr. Gérard Rocamora. She later served as an independent consultant for private islands, the Seychelles National History Museum, and local NGOs.

Over the past 15 years, Dr. Henriette has developed substantial experience in invasive species management—particularly plants and invertebrates—as well as species reintroductions, faunistic inventories, and island restoration techniques.

She coordinated the development of the Environmental Science BSc degree at the University of Seychelles and is a co-founder of its Island Biodiversity & Conservation Centre and the Terrestrial Restoration Action Society of Seychelles. She collaborates with the Invasive Species Specialist Group of the IUCN Species Survival Commission and is a licensed bird ringer with SAFRING (University of Cape Town).

Fluent in the three national languages of Seychelles, she is the lead zoologist for the Key Biodiversity Areas inventory of Seychelles and has authored or co-authored numerous scientific publications and technical reports on birds, plants, corals, mangroves, invasive species, and biodiversity conservation.
