Dr. Michael Hall re-joined the University of Seychelles in April 2023 as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Business and Sustainable Development.
He began his career in the Leisure and Recreation industry as a Sports Centre Manager before training as a Further Education teacher in 1997. Since then, he has worked with various colleges and universities in the United Kingdom and Malaysia, specialising in:
Business Management
Leadership
Teacher Education
Education Studies
Sociology
At UniSey, he has previously served as Senior Lecturer in Business Studies (2015–2019), where he managed postgraduate business programmes (MBA) and taught on the MA Sustainable Tourism programme. He later moved to Malaysia as Director of Teaching and Learning at the School of Education, University of Nottingham Malaysia.
Dr. Hall has supervised more than 100 undergraduate, masters, and PhD research dissertations. His research interests include:
Management development
Strategic management
Teacher leadership
Teaching of language across the curriculum
Teacher identity
Deontological approaches to educational research
He has extensive experience working with external organisations on short training programmes, including:
Certificate in Adult Teaching (Royal Air Force)
Train the Trainer (East of England Co-operative Society)
Certificate in Education (Engineering instructors at a local training company)
Beyond academia, Dr. Hall is an active member of the Enterprise Seychelles Agency, serving on the Seed Capital Funding Evaluation Committee, and is the current Secretary of the Seychelles Prison Advisory Board.
