Dr. Nathalie Bodin holds a Docteur en Océanologie Biologique from the University of Western Brittany, France, and a Master’s degree in Toxicology and Ecotoxicology from Paris Descartes University.

Her areas of expertise encompass ecosystem functioning and sustainable resource management, environmental pollution, climate change, and their impacts on living marine resources and human health.

With over fifteen years of research experience at the French Institute for Research and Development (IRD) and the Seychelles Fishing Authority, she has developed broad interdisciplinary expertise in environmental sciences. Her professional experience spans field research—including work as a professional scientific diver on research and commercial cruises—laboratory analysis (advanced analytical methods and laboratory management), and quantitative data analysis.

Dr. Bodin has supervised numerous students from A-level to PhD and postdoctoral stages, as well as early-career scientists and technicians from partner institutions across Africa (Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritius, Seychelles), Europe (France, Italy, Spain), and the Americas (United States, Mexico). She has authored or co-authored more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific articles and over 90 conference proceedings and technical reports.

Since 2022, she has been based in Seychelles as an independent consultant. Her recent work focuses on the management and analysis of large multidisciplinary datasets—including health, food, and trade data—and on applied research in food security and agroecology, particularly strategies aimed at reducing or eliminating pesticide use in agricultural systems.
