Landy Fernando Rahandriarisoa has served as Conservation Officer at the Island Biodiversity and Conservation (IBC) Centre since October 2024, working on the CEPF-funded project Increasing Resilience of the Sainte Anne Marine National Park Islands. He is based on Ste Anne and Moyenne Islands.

He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Development from University of Toamasina. Prior to joining IBC, Landy worked with the Durrell Mauritius and the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation as a Conservation Biologist on Île Ronde (Round Island Strict Reserve) and Île aux Aigrettes Nature Reserve under the Mauritian Island Restoration Internship Program. There, he conducted surveys and monitoring of indigenous and endemic plants, endemic reptiles, and seabirds; managed juvenile and wild Aldabra giant tortoises; and implemented invasive species eradication, control, and biosecurity protocols.

Previously, Landy worked as a Field Technician with the Madagascar Fauna and Flora Group (2021–2023) on invasive alien species control and mitigation projects. He led field teams for the survey and monitoring of endemic reptiles and amphibians, managed GIS and databases, and deployed acoustic monitoring devices (Audiomoth and Wildlife Acoustic) and toad traps. He also collaborated with external researchers and volunteers on various field studies.

Landy’s skills include ecological monitoring, data analysis using multiple software platforms, and interdisciplinary collaboration to address complex environmental challenges across island and tropical ecosystems.
