Ms. Penda Choppy joined the University of Seychelles in 2016, bringing extensive leadership experience from her time at the Creole Institute of Seychelles, where she served as Director (1999–2014) and CEO (2014–2016).

Her work focuses on the oral and written creole traditions of the Western Indian Ocean, particularly in a postcolonial context. She combines her expertise in language, culture, and research to contribute to teaching, curriculum development, and scholarly research at UniSey.
