Saratha joined the University of Seychelles in April 2025 as a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Sciences and a research collaborator with the Blue Economy Research Institute (BERI). She holds an MSc in Marine Science and Climate Change from the University of Gibraltar and a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from UniSey. Her academic work has focused on regional fisheries dynamics, particularly the morphology and migration trends of Yellowfin Tuna in the Western Indian Ocean, contributing to data-driven strategies for sustainable fisheries management.
Saratha’s research spans multiple disciplines, including fisheries science, marine conservation, and applied ocean governance. She has worked with the Seychelles Fishing Authority, Save Our Seas Foundation, and Monaco Explorations, conducting field research on reef sharks, manta rays, and marine ecosystems, and integrating tools such as GIS mapping, morphometric analysis, and eDNA sampling. Her interests lie in developing practical, policy-relevant solutions that strengthen the resilience of Seychelles’ marine ecosystems within the context of a sustainable blue economy.
