For the past three years, Cindy Moka has served as a Research Officer at the Creole Language and Culture Research Institute (CLCRI), bringing over two decades of experience in cultural research, heritage preservation, and documentation in Seychelles. Her work spans traditional practices, medicinal plants, Creole lifeways, and both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
Before joining UniSey, she spent more than 20 years with the Seychelles Department of Culture, where she conducted extensive research on Seychelles’ cultural heritage and contributed to several national projects. She was part of the Seychelles delegation at the 47th Session of the World Heritage Committee at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, contributing to the nomination dossier for Venn’s Town.
Cindy holds formal training in museum studies, heritage conservation, and sustainable tourism. Her research and publications focus on Seychellois cultural identity, Creole food systems, slavery memory, island gardens, and cultural tourism. She is also actively involved in multiple ongoing CLCRI research projects on Creole culture, folklore, gardens, and traditional games.
