Dr. Gerard Adonis is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Seychelles. He teaches courses in economics, statistics, and econometrics and holds a PhD in Econometrics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
With over two decades of experience in higher education, research, and consultancy, Dr Adonis has held various academic and advisory positions, including Head of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Seychelles. He has worked extensively with international and regional organisations such as the Commonwealth Secretariat, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), International Labour Organization (ILO), World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Bank.
His areas of expertise include econometric and system dynamics modelling, survey design and implementation, probability and density forecasting, and socio-economic analysis for sustainable development. Much of his research focuses on applying these methods to small island developing states, with particular emphasis on health equity, poverty measurement, and labour market analysis.
Dr. Adonis is currently developing integrated econometric and system dynamics models for sustainable development and assessing the economic potential of Seychelles’ Blue Economy. He is also working on a forthcoming book exploring socio-economic transitions in small island developing states.

Dr. Gerard Adonis has led and contributed to numerous research and consultancy projects focusing on sustainable development, socio-economic analysis, and policy evaluation in Seychelles and other small island developing states. His work spans government, international, and regional organisations, combining econometric and system dynamics modelling with applied policy research.
