Human resource development provides the opportunity through various activities, for transfer of knowledge and development of various skills among leaders, academic staff, service staff, for improving performance and enhancing efficiency and effectiveness at the University of Seychelles. Human resource development is critical for organization’s effectiveness and for the University of Seychelles.
The setting up of the Human Resource Development Committee is important to ensure the university acquires and maintain the right competencies of experts, qualified and professionals that aspires for growth and development of UniSey, while maintain high level of commitment, engagement and productivity.
The Human Resources Development Committee derived from Senate is established to support the professional growth and welfare of staff which will subsequently lead to a productive and efficient workforce. Besides, leading the human resource development actions and making recommendations to the Senate, for the achievement of strategic objectives of the University of Seychelles.

The committee creates an option for members to engage with the planning and implementation of the university’s goals. It will consist of not more than 10 members of both internal and external members, including the Chair who is also a member of the Senate Committee. Members of the committee will be appointed for a term that will be determined by the Senate. The HRD committee may appoint a new member in the event that a member ceases employment or can no longer perform their responsibility as a member of the HRD Committee.

This committee shall establish sub-committees and or working groups to assist with the implementation of promotions, training and staff welfare activities. The HRD committee will establish terms of reference of sub-committees/working groups which will be approved by the Senate Committee. This Committee shall receive reports from its sub-committees and be responsible for monitoring and evaluating each sub-committee’s activities against their functions and responsibilities.
The HRD committee shall meet every month. However, ad-hoc meeting will be organized should there be pertinent issue that needs immediate attention.
A quorum represents more than half of the total members of Committee. If a quorum is not present, the meeting shall be postponed.
The committee shall take decisions, make recommendations and approve on matters brought forward to this committee at a quorum which represents more than half of the total members of the committee. If a quorum is not present, no decisions shall be made.
This committee shall report its discussion and recommendation to the Senate Committee for stamp of approval.
